Modeled after the Carver Center, Proctor Center and Common Place Community Center in Peoria, IL Yolanda L. Cockfield and Robert E. Cockfield founded Get Up Community Center on March 18th 2007 at 4417 and 4419 Rittman Road in San Antonio, TX after retiring from the U.S. Army in 2004 at Ft. Sam Houston, TX.
The location was moved one year later to 13777 Judson Road, Suite 108, San Antonio, TX. After occupying 6 commercial spaces in the Judson Business Center, our services provided to the San Antonio community outgrew the spaces.
The Bob and Beverly Kirk Foundation built our organization a new 6,000 square foot facility in March 2011 at 6227 Krempen Ave. San Antonio, TX 78233 after seeing our organization was in need of a larger facility to provide social services.
Get Up Community Center was birthed with the premise that due to psychological, social, economical, physical, spiritual and educational reasons, individuals may find themselves knocked down but not out. Our mission at Get Up Community Center is to help individuals realize that they have an important mission, vision, space and place that has been preordained for them in this lifetime that they may make a difference in someone else life.
Get Up Community Center has expanded its territory to Peoria, IL, Seguin, TX, Northeast and Southeast San Antonio, TX. These new community center locations provide the same services as the San Antonio, TX location to those in the surrounding municipals, counties, and provinces.
