In FY2014, the Get Up Community Center Food Pantry provided nearly 2.3 million pounds of food. The mission of GUCC is to fight hunger in Southwest Texas through food distribution, programs, education, and advocacy. Our 6100 square foot facility is home to servicing our clients. We service our clients every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 9 am to 12 noon. Also, Tuesday 12 noon to 2 pm is another distribution time that we serve the community.

80% have incomes below the federal poverty level during the previous month
13% are homeless
35% of clients are non-Hispanic white,

41% are Hispanic, and the rest are from other racial groups
The Get Up Community Center Food Pantry relies on the generosity and support of local businesses, churches, foundations, corporations, government, civic groups and individuals in order to successfully continue serving Southwest Texans who are at risk of going hungry. GUCC spends around $2k a month on food to give away for FREE....There are some pantries that require the client to pay a small fee for a box of groceries. Well GUCC leadership decided that, we wouldn't charge a fee because our ultimate goal is to feed the hungry. We strive to maintain the highest standard of efficiency while providing food to those in need. 98% of donated resources go directly to our food distribution program(s). GUCC has been voted one of the best food pantries in Southwest Texas!
